For over forty years, BIBA has been representing the interests of insurance brokers, intermediaries and their customers by campaigning on all aspects of insurance to ensure the industry is united and working for all involved.
Today, it is the UK’s leading insurance intermediary organisation, representing the interests of insurance brokers, intermediaries and their customers.
Its purpose is to act as the voice for industry-advising members, the government, the regulator, consumer bodies and other stakeholders about key insurance issues.
In addition, BIBA is committed to providing training, unique schemes and facilities, technical advice, guidance about regulation and business support.
It is an organisation concerned with raising and maintaining industry standards. As a not-for-profit trade body, BIBA is focused solely on the needs and requirements of its membership.
Greater Manchester
Greater Manchester (GM) is home to the UK’s second largest financial services economy by number of colleagues employed and assets under management. GM also houses one of the UK’s largest and most diverse regional insurance markets where all elements of the sector are represented at scale, spanning claims management, loss expertise, underwriting and broking.
Possessing the largest travel-to-work catchment area of any regional UK city (some 7.2 million people live within an hour’s drive) and one of the largest student populations in Europe (more than 100,000 people studying in world-leading universities), GM is particularly well known for its general insurance broking community.
BIBA welcomes the opportunity to advise and guide Greater Manchester’s rapidly expanding and evolving insurance marketplace. To achieve this, BIBA operates a well-established and successful regional committee.
Working in combination with Neil Jenkinson, Area Manager North at BIBA, the regional committee goes about addressing the interests of all Greater Manchester brokers, intermediaries and their customers.
The committee also has a Young Broker Ambassador. This talented individual has the responsibility of representing, advocating and promoting the interests of young BIBA members.
For the last three years, Greater Manchester has been the preferred destination for the Annual BIBA Conference and Exhibition which is recognised as the networking event of the year for insurance professionals. More than 8000 industry leaders and professionals attend the conference which last year was held at the Manchester Convention Centre.
BIBAs regional committee in GM is a combination of deeply committed and talented colleagues each focused on organising and delivering the following activities for the benefit of all professionals across our region;

- Wider learning and development including training, webinars and e-learning
- Improved access to mentoring and knowledge forums
- Lloyds visits and industry information
