Broadway Insurance Brokers is celebrating the latest recognition in a remarkable continued run of success.

The firm has been named the Best Specialist Insurance Brokerage in Greater Manchester in the SME Finance Awards – the fifth time in the last 12 months that Broadway has either been an award winner or featured in prestigious rankings.

Chief Executive Daniel Lloyd-John has described 2023 as “pivotal”, with the recruitment of several senior personnel fuelling continued growth in clients and workload.

Only just weeks ago, he announced that the firm had arranged cover more than £2 billion of corporate and private assets with the amount of Gross Written Premiums (GWPs) generated more than trebling in the same period.

Mr Lloyd-John said that the latest award was further vindication of Broadway’s “integrated” approach.

“We are truly delighted. This is simply wonderful news with which to start the new year.

“Having this award identify us as specialists is a reminder of the intention with which we set out when we launched – a desire not to treat business or private clients as distinct.

“Doing so fails to take account of the often overlapping needs of the kind of entrepreneurs, for instance, who make up a sizeable proportion of our clients and are so numerous in the area around our North West base.

“This award also underlines that more than just talking a good game, the incredibly talented individuals who have joined us in the three years since we opened our doors have established us as one of the leading brokers for high net worth individuals anywhere.

“We have great confidence that will only continue. Already, those skills which we added to our service offering during 2023 have proven hugely attractive to clients.

“It all augurs very well for the rest of 2024 and beyond.”

Broadway’s SME Finance title is illustration of the impact which the firm has made since it launched in 2020.

The Awards are intended to honourfirms and individuals whose work ethic and inventive approach have driven industry transformation” across the UK.

It bookends a year which began with Broadway winning the Commercial Lines Specialist Broker of the Year category at the National Insurance Awards in March.

In the same month, the boutique firm’s Private Client Director, Eleanor Moore, was named as one of the domestic insurance industry’s Elite Women.

As well as being the sole company from the north of England included in a list of the Five-Star Brokers published by Insurance Business, Broadway was later named in a list of the world’s best brokers by the same title in December.

Broadway was also the only broker outside London to feature in last year’s ranking of leading advisors to high net worth individuals compiled by Spear’s HNW and was singled out for its “personal, high-touch service”.

Furthernore, Mr Lloyd-John was appointed to an influential group advising the broking industry’s representative body – the British Insurance Brokers’ Association’s (BIBA) – on its national policies in November.

Last year also saw Emma Wood join as Broadway’s new Director of Healthcare in October, while Louisa Roberts was recruited as Senior Client Executive after almost two decades working for some of the biggest brokers in healthcare insurance.

Michelle Neary arrived as Head of Client Money and Credit Control following the arrival of Gary Ward as the firm’s Director of Operations, Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance in July – a move which was itself hailed as something of a coup by Mr Lloyd-John.

Mr Lloyd-John said that the new hires had added to the momentum already generated by the likes of Eleanor Moore as Broadway’s Private Client Director, Martin Lilley as Director of Corporate Services and Geraint Jones as Senior Private Client Executive.

Broadway’s clients include some of the wealthiest individuals and most successful businesses based in the North West.

As well as now being the go-to broker for many of the region’s entrepreneurs and most high profile sports clubs and athletes, the firm has attracted a greater share of businesses in the manufacturing, healthcare, IT, engineering and property industries.
