Broadway Insurance Partners has revealed that it is focused on growth after once again being named among the UK insurance industry’s leading risk management practitioners.
It is one of a dozen to feature on the latest annual list of Five-Star Brokers published by Insurance Business magazine.
Broadway’s founder and Chief Executive, Daniel Lloyd-John, is also the only broker of a firm based outside London to be included in the latest ranking of advisors to high net worth clients compiled by Spear’s magazine.
The twin recognition is a repeat of its success in 2023 and underlines the rapid progress made since being founded four years ago.
However, Mr Lloyd-John insisted that Broadway was not about to rest on its laurels and was instead in the process of expanding to ensure that it would remain the broker of choice for many of the country’s wealthiest individuals and most notable entrepreneurs.
“I believe that being chosen once more by Spear’s and Insurance Business is not just an indication of our desire to maintain the very high standards which we set when we launched.
“Within the last 12 months, we have made further senior appointments as we increase the services which we offer.
“All of those have made instant contributions to our performance while retaining the very distinctive essence of what we do.
“That character has been instrumental both in our recruitment and in our generating new business, especially that which has been won from much larger rivals.
“It shows that we are providing something very different to our competitors which strikes a chord with clients at home and abroad.
“We have every intention of keeping that personality as we move forward with our growth plans.
“These really are very exciting times for everyone associated with the business.”
The latest Insurance Business ranking considered performance by candidates during both 2022 and 2023.
Rather than being based purely on overall size by number of employees or turnover, judges drew up their final list based on “business per broker” which, they outlined, “ensures that the very best brokerages are singled out, regardless of size”.
Insurance Business concluded that Broadway had grown its client roster by 45 per cent and its revenue by 90 per cent during the 12 months in question.
The number of policies written on behalf of private and corporate clients had also increased by 52 per cent.
In retaining his place in the Spear’s 500 classification, Mr Lloyd-John is the only one of what the publication says are the UK’s best advisers to high net worth clients based in the North West.
The Spear’s list is based on a series of peer nominations and client feedback as well as information gathered by the magazine’s editorial and research teams.
Spear’s concluded that Broadway’s inclusion was justified by its “personal, high-touch service”.
New business now accounts for one-third of all of Broadway’s clients and a similar proportion of overall revenues.
The firm has already generated £6 million amount of Gross Written Premiums (GWPs) during 2024, having recorded £7.5 million in the whole of the previous 12 months – a figure which itself marked a trebling of policy fees.
It has claimed that the performance vindicates a decision to invest substantial sums in operations, including a 25 per cent increase in the number of brokers which it employs.
The Insurance Business and Spear’s selections coincide with Broadway’s fast-growing healthcare division being shortlisted for a brace of prestigious awards.
It is one of 12 finalists selected in the Small Intermediary of the Year category of COVER magazine’s Excellence Awards and one of seven brokers in the running for the Best Small Health Insurance Advice prize in Health & Protection’s advisor awards.
Mr Lloyd-John said that they reflected the impact made by Broadway since the appointment of Emma Wood as Director of Healthcare a year ago.
