The founder of one of the country’s most dynamic names in insurance broking has claimed top billing among the North West’s risk management advisors to high net worth clients.

Daniel Lloyd-John, the Chief Executive of Broadway Insurance Brokers, is one of only 18 individuals from across the UK and the only specialist based in the North West region to be recommended by the latest edition of the prestigious Spear’s 500 rankings.

It is the latest recognition for Mr Lloyd-John and follows his election in May as chairman of the Greater Manchester’s regional committee of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA).

He said that the Spear’s listing underlined the impact made by Broadway in less than two years since it opened its doors.

“It really is heartening to be considered alongside so many long-established and well-known names in broking.

“Everyone within the business has worked incredibly hard not only to generate the momentum to establish the Broadway brand but to maintain the very high standards which we have set at the outset.

“That effort and talent has made us the insurance advisor of choice for many of the North West’s leading entrepreneurs and high-profile private clients as well as helping us develop partnerships with other professional advisors who share our values.

“To be featured so positively in Spear’s, a publication which is so very familiar to our clients and peers, is a particular delight.”

The Spear’s 500 represents what the magazine describes as the best private client advisers in the UK across a variety of disciplines ranging from insurance and wealth managers to family lawyers and experts on fine wine and fine art.

Rankings are based on peer nominations and client feedback as well as information gathered by the title’s editorial and research teams.

Spear’s singled out Broadway’s for a “personal, high-touch service” in dealing with a number of risks, such as those associated with extreme weather and cyber-attacks, which it said were “likely to become even more prominent in the future”.

Despite launching in the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, Altrincham-based Broadway has made rapid strides, in part due to a focus on recruiting only “high quality” personnel.

Its notable appointments have included Eleanor Moore as its Private Client Director, Martin Lilley as Director of Corporate Services and Geraint Jones as Senior Private Client Executive.

Mr Lloyd-John said that almost half of Broadway’s clients are North West-based businesses involved in a diverse range of sectors with a “significant” number turning over in excess of £250 million.

He described his election to represent insurance industry colleagues across Greater Manchester as “an honour”.

The area’s committee is one of the largest and longest-standing of the 11 such BIBA groups across the UK.

BIBA has been the UK’s leading general insurance intermediary organisation since its formation in 1977 and represents more than 1,800 regulated firms that collectively employ more than 100,000 staff.

In addition to focusing on the needs and requirements of its membership and their customers, including the upkeep and maintenance of industry standards, BIBA provides a voice for industry-advising members, the government, the regulator, consumer bodies and other stakeholders about key insurance issues.
